The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM):
The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the central figure of Pastafarianism, a satirical religion created in 2005 by Bobby Henderson. It was a response to the Kansas State Board of Education’s decision to allow intelligent design to be taught alongside evolution in public schools. Henderson wrote an open letter arguing that if intelligent design was taught, then the theory of the Flying Spaghetti Monster — a divine being made of spaghetti and meatballs — should also be included.
Pastafarianism parodies religious dogma and promotes science, logic, and secularism, with a light-hearted and humorous approach. It has its own sacred texts, beliefs, and practices like:
Heaven featuring a beer volcano and strippers factory
Pirates being considered holy beings
Prayers ending with "R'amen"
Wearing colanders on heads as religious headgear
