3D birthday card
Hello guys, hope you had a nice week and wish you a great weekend. In this post I would like to show you how you can make 3D simple but cute, birthday card. I am making it for my godson first birthday, although he already turned 1, celebration is tomorrow. For this task, you will need a few things.
First I have chosen black artist canvas that is medium grain, but you can use any cardboard or harder paper that can hold mass.
You will also need some spatulas.
Acrylic paint, but I think tempera can do the work as well.
And leveling compound. I am still a beginner with texture/modeling art and I didn't find my perfect paste, but for simple and small task like this I find fine leveling compound good enough.
If you are like me, you will make a scatch first, just to be sure it looks how you want it.
Now you it's main part, you have two options, to make model first and paint later, or to paint the paste. I decided to paint paste as I didn't need much of it, and it was easier to do it that way, for me at least.
I started with baloons and for them I chose orange, red and yellow. I added more paste just in case, because if i need it more, I can't make same color that easy. So I was left with some waste.
I was scared how to do it, but I decided to put as much as i can at once, and then spread it to edges of the ballon. And it worked. It wasn't as 3D as I hoped but it was okay. But then for the bottom of baloon, my spatulas were too bit. I decided to take toothstick. Andt it worked very good and it was easy.
Now it was time for red one. This one was hard to make dark as I wanted, but maybe I didn't even need it too dark. Second one was already better then first one, and more 3D.
Last ballon was yellow one. This one had the most air ballons in the paste, but I fixed it with toothstick too. Also this color I had looked so neon, and I added green to make it more natural, but maybe it was my light too, in the end it didn't look so bad.
Last it was number one, and this one was the hardest. I made color easy, but spreading it so it could be even on all sides seemed like endles job. Each time I added too much so I had to add more on opposite side, and so on , and so on. Also with time, paste was harder, and it was haeder to work with it.
In the end, I am okay with how it turend out, for the first time.
Now only it was left to draw copes of ballons. And in the beggining I wrote message on the other side, but I forgot to mention, coz it's easier to write without the 3D part.
And that's it. Time to dry and it's done. Hope you like it.
