The Umbilical Cord

Status:

The umbilical cord of our first chick has not been removed. We will just wait until it dries up.

What shall I do?

I went to check it and the sack was turning green, so I started to pick up the chick and all of the sudden a river of bright green ooze came running out of the chicks umbilical area. I was freaked out and worried about disease, so I had to put it down...

I just clean it and put her and wrapped her with a table cloth.

The chick didn't make it!. Though, we do have 14 eggs left.. Again, when there is someone who left someone will comes next!

🐥 I put her in the small container to avoid her from the ants.

Right now, I will be addressing about the issue on hernia on chick 🐥..

What is hernia?

Tbh, I really don't know what it is. But, when I try to search it. It means, hernias are caused by a combination of pressure and an opening or weakness of muscle or fascia; the pressure pushes an organ or tissue through the opening or weak spot. Sometimes the muscle weakness is present at birth; more often, it occurs later in life.

I also went to crowdsourcing, and here it says,.

I'm sorry about your chicks! It could be due to a disease called omphalitis which is an infection in the yolk. It is caused by dirty eggs or a dirty incubator. Or, the humidity in the incubator could have been off.~FeatheredFriends&Horses2

It can be anything really from having too much humidity, low humidity, too high of a temperature, too low of a temperature, deformity, etc. They'll most likely pass away unfortunately..~Myrshine

With this reasoning, I need to fulfill my duty to investigate what is happening. We lose 2 chicks with the same reason, first the umbilical cord was out then second the umbilical cord was tied up with her feet..
I am hoping that all eggs are not infected with it.

Share us with your thoughts, if you have the same experience like mine..
