My Experience as a First Context Beta Tester and a Simple Guide

Hello Hive family Friends, I hope everyone is well. Today, I will share with you my real-life experience of working as a beta tester on a very cool project, ‘First context’.

In simple words, First Context is a platform powered by Hive Blockchain, where we can permanently store any important content of Web 2.0 (such as YouTube, X, Facebook, etc.) on the blockchain and earn rewards and credits by creating a constructive analysis or ‘signal report’ of it.

When I came to know about the beta testing of this project, I immediately joined it without any delay. My username on Hive is @mirzaiqi, and my experience working on this platform is really great. Below, I am sharing step by step how I curated a YouTube content starting from my sign-in process and added signals.

Step 1: Sign-in or registration process on the platform

First, we need to go to the official beta link of First Context: https://beta.firstcontext.app/

1. After entering the site, the sign-in option will appear.

2. No separate registration is required. You have to directly enter your Hive username (like @mirzaiqi in my case) and click on the "Sign In with Hive Keychain" option.

1. After that, we will be able to easily enter the account through Keychain Approval.

Step 2: Find or add a creator (Add/Find Creator)

After logging in, we will see several options in the menu on the left side of the dashboard, such as Signal Inbox, Find Creator, Add Creator, Platform Stats, etc.

1. If you want to work with the content of a specific creator, you can go to the "Find Creator" or "Add Creator" option and add their social media or YouTube channel.

2. As you can see in the screenshot below, I have used the option to add a creator here.

Step 3: "Catch" the content

Now let's get to the real work. I wanted to store the information of a wonderful video on YouTube on the blockchain. The video was basically a discussion about YouTube's AI moderation and policies.

1. First, I copied the video link and pasted it into the "Add Signal" box.

1. After submitting the link, the platform automatically identifies the original creator of the video. For example, here the name "Think Media Podcast" has come up as the creator. I confirm this by clicking the "Correct" button.

Step 4: My personal opinion (Your Take) and creating a signal report

The first thing to do after confirming the creator is to give your brief opinion (Your Take) about that video or content. I wrote a short review of the video, considering its importance:

Next, you have to create a specific report or 'Signal' by correctly answering the questions provided by the platform. I filled in all the fields to earn bonus credits:

• Why it matters: So that creators can get the guidance they need to prevent their channels from being permanently damaged.

Step 5: Successfully posted to the chain

After inputting all the information, two options will be available below: "Catch & Post off chain" or "Catch & Post on chain with @mirzaiqi".

I clicked on the green "Catch & Post on chain with @mirzaiqi" button to permanently save it on-chain to the blockchain.

After clicking the button, a success message appears on the screen. It shows that my report has been permanently recorded on the blockchain, and for this, I have earned +23 EA credits! Also, being the first signaler of this content, it is possible to get a certain portion of the Hive payout for the comments that come here.

Current progress of the First Context Platform (Platform Stats)

Although the First Context project is still in beta, the number of users and data indexed is increasing day by day. Going to the platform stats, you can see:

• More than 25,000 pieces of content have been indexed.
• More than 500 creators have been added.
• And the platform graph is going up day by day.

As a beta tester, I found using the First Context Platform quite easy and informative. This idea of properly evaluating important Web 2.0 content with the help of Web 3.0 technologies is really great.
