You can say "oh people are just mad about black characters" but it'd be like casting a bunch of white or Asian people as natural-born Wakandans in Black Panther. This is a mystical world based on northern European archetypes and mythos. The descriptions of these races was pretty clear.

The marketing has been heavily socially justice themed. They hired a bunch of Gen Zers to do a "hype analysis" after the first trailer and it was clear none of them were actual fans, despite the advertising being about how they gathered some of the biggest Tolkien fans in the world.

The CGI looks uninspired and horrendous. Mandalorian looks better yet this is the most expensive TV show ever made?

The trailers look soulless and generic, and the woke garbage I’ve heard some of the producers and cast say bodes very ill. I can’t say I’m optimistic.
