Remembrance
This day, I bow my head
with tears brimming in my searching eyes
I close them tight
and Remember.
What day has brought me here
to a place where I myself am misunderstood
and it is I with a lack of understanding?
With the world in my fingertips
I turn to read my palm
and see what's written there.
I Remember the name.
Faithfully I draw myself up
gliding a fragile finger across the darkness lining my sight
It isn't a moment to know the dark
Though I am the night
This moment is an awakening
a soul feeling the heat of passion's flame
An allowance of feeling a depth to leave Earth's core in wake
Moving me so that I might remember this day
How shallow did my heart beat before I knew?
How long did I wait?
How did I see any other way?
How did I love before you?
I've had love... for my family.
Unbending, blissfully sweet love and adoration for the children that play at my feet.
I've been full of love for God, my blessed Father.
I've known the enduring bonds of friendship
and the ugly pools of "almost" hate.
But I never knew this... until I knew you.
I remember all that I hold within.
The amazing art that paints each day I love you.
I want to live each day remembering you.
I want to turn my palm and see your name
to remember the feel of your heart beating against my skin.
Living each moment in loving remembrance until you're
home and I'm gently drawing you in.
I want to remember laughing in your arms
the sight of looking up to see you smiling down at me
The passion, love, loyalty that you inspire is no less than magnificent.
Let me never forget.
