Roadside photos

On my last trip, I discovered a new pastime for boring moments on the bus: photographing the scenery. I was returning from São Paulo and had already slept more than enough. In the middle of the road, the internet lost its signal. Bored, without my book, I stared out the window. Like a TV screen, it looked like a meaningless movie: random landscapes at every turn. But then, up ahead, a sunset appeared. I took my cell phone out of my backpack and started taking pictures.

Normally, I take pictures when I'm standing still somewhere, of course. But I thought: why not try it this way? I liked the effects that the movement provided in the images. I took these photos as a simple souvenir of an incredible trip, but I soon realized that they were interesting, in a different way, with a more conceptual tone, so to speak. And I liked it.

Na minha última viagem, descobri um novo lazer para os momentos entediantes dentro do ônibus: fotografar as paisagens. Eu estava voltando de São Paulo e já tinha dormido mais do que o suficiente. No meio da estrada, a internet perdeu o sinal. Entediado, sem meu livro, fiquei olhando pela janela. Como se fosse a tela de uma TV, parecia um filme sem sentido: paisagens aleatórias a cada curva. Mas, lá na frente, surgiu um pôr do sol. Peguei o celular na mochila e comecei a fotografar.

Normalmente, costumo tirar fotos quando estou parado em algum lugar, claro. Mas pensei: por que não tentar dessa forma? Gostei dos efeitos que o movimento proporcionava no resultado das imagens. Fiz essas fotos como uma simples recordação de uma viagem incrível, mas logo percebi que elas ficaram interessantes, de um jeito diferente, com um tom mais conceitual, digamos assim. E eu gostei.
