A letter to my son
"A Letter to My Son When I'm Old"
The day this old man is no longer the same, be patient and understand me.
When I spill food on my clothes and forget how to tie my shoes, remember the hours I spent teaching you to do the same things until you could do them yourself, but don't forget I won't make it.
If, when talking to me, I repeat and repeat the same words and you already know how it will end, don't interrupt me and listen to me, they may be the last words I say.
When I unintentionally relieve myself, don't be ashamed and understand that it's not my fault as I can't control my body anymore. Remember how many times as a child I helped you and being patiently by your side waiting for you to finish what you were supposed to do and even if your memory doesn't remember I was there to make you clean and comfortable again.
Don't feel sad or helpless seeing me like this. Give me your heart and understand me, help me as I did you.
In the same way that I accompanied you on your path, I ask that you accompany me to finish mine.
Give me love and patience, I'll give you back gratitude and smiles, but if it doesn't, just remember what you saw when you looked at me and I was your superhero.
