I was sitting on the floor outside the auditorium, when I saw this young boy, age ten (I guess), a little taller for his age, black hair and with cheeks so red, runs towards her mother all excited.

You can say that the boy was so pumped up while he was telling her mother how great her sister is. “Ma! all those nights she’s been practicing paid off”, he said.
He got me hooked instantly! ( and I caught myself staring at him like a creep! )

You can say that he genuinely adores her sister. It shows on how he talk about her. He giggles, his eyes were wide and smiling, and he animatedly gesture with his hands as if he was making a masterpiece.

And then all at once, he stopped. He was just standing there, face down, and clenching his fist. In an instant he lost his jolly vibe.

I wondered Why?

I looked at his mothers direction and now I know why.
All the while that I was into the young boy, the kid was talking to no one.
Glued to her phone, her mother was unintentionally ignoring the precious boy.

The boy turned away after realizing it’s not a good time, he strides fast back to the auditorium. And as he passed by right infront of me I caught him saying, “Maybe later, she might have time” as if it was his everyday mantra.
It makes my wonder how many times does he say these words.

... it’s probably because when your young its’s okay to be easily ignored...
