Polar Coordinates: Example 6: Part 2: Polar Circle to Cartesian
In this video I go over part 2 of the example video on polar coordinates which involved the polar equation r = 2cosθ. In part 1 I sketched the curve based on some values in which we knew the exact trigonometric ratios. In this part 2, I show how to convert the polar equation into Cartesian coordinates. I do this by using the Pythagorean Theorem to connect the Polar and Cartesian coordinate systems. Also in this video I show how we can visually draw a triangle inside the circle to illustrate the polar equation r = 2cosθ. The fact that the triangle has a right angle, or perpendicular 90 degree angle, will be proved in my next video so stay tuned for that video! This is a great video to illustrate how to jump from polar to Cartesian coordinates for polar equations involving trigonometry and circles, so make sure to watch this video!
