The end of community notes
For a while now I've been enjoying this feature of twitter. It seemed to me, at least, that if you were to really embody the values of free speech, you had to make sure it would self correct, and although not perfect, it did seem to be the best way to make it work.
But then...
No bueno
You see, for a lot of these people, these influencers, community notes is only great when it dunks on your enemies. Now if you are one "of the good guys" then community notes should not even make an appearance it seems.
Over and over I see right wing accounts upset with community notes, calling for it's abolishment, and it appears that Elon finally decided to do something about it.
A finger on the scale
I'm sure most people know that Elon has gone as far as to delete the community notes on his own posts. There was an account, now deleted it seems, that kept record of the times he got "community noted", but that too appears to have been cleansed from the platform.
This reminds me of the whole Russian Collusion sham we lived through back in the Clinton days, but I'm sure to my friends of the right this is entirely different.
At any rate, to me this signals the end of "the feature". The creation of an even tighter misinformation bubble that will surely rot more brains a minute than watching old rotten.com videos on repeat.
