Upgrading the Nuclear Encoder
Half joking, many months ago when I began working on this Encoder project, I started coming up with ridiculous names for it. The New Encoder. The Mega Encoder. The Super Encoder. The Turbo Encoder. The Nuclear. You get my drift. Every single upgrade meant, in my mind, that the name had to be upgraded as well.
It was a game, I admit, but one that quietly set an expectation for me. If I was going to give it a bigger name, the app itself had to live up to it. And with that said, this Encoder is truly a heavy hitter, if I’m allowed to say so myself. It’s packed with a ridiculous amount of features. Fallbacks on top of fallbacks, and a few moves I half jokingly call nuclear options.
That said, as with anything in life, it can always be better, and I fully intend to keep improving it. Today, it took another step forward. I squashed a couple of bugs, but more importantly, it can now work directly with the CDN, the traffic director, and upload to the hotnode as well.
So what does this mean for the 3Speak experience? In one word: speed.
The bottleneck, especially when pinning large files or long videos, is gone. That friction simply disappears.
This upgrade, combined with a new posting flow we’ll be deploying soon, should put 3Speak leagues ahead of where it was just months ago. What can I say? I’m genuinely excited about what’s coming next.
