This MCM (mid-century modern) home came with some out of date, and unsafe designs. One of those being the staircase railings/posts. Code says 4” gaps are the largest allowed. Ours are 8-9.5”, unsafe for kids and pets. So, the plan is the build custom wood spacers that take up the gaps. Here is how it looks now:
And here are the wood spacers aces that I have stained with General Finishes java stain, and 1 coat of High Performance top coat.
Will add more photos once I get the wood spacers mounted...!
