Melodies & Memories

Hello, my little corner of the internet! Today, I'm here to share my love for music and the songs I listen to, along with the memories they evoke. Yesterday, I was just playing music and realized that certain songs reminded me of specific memories. It made me think, 'Why not share these with you guys? I hope we share some similar musical tastes and have some favorite song in common.

The first song that reminds me of a very special place is 'Take a Chance with Me.' by NiKi I remember walking around the Quezon City Memorial Park in Manila for the first time, getting lost and worried about finding my parents. Suddenly, I heard this song, and it calmed me down, helping me focus on finding them. Thankfully, we found each other, and I continued to hear the music as we explored the park. I love the part where the song says, 'Why can't we for once say what we want and say what we feel.' It reminds me of November and December and everything that happened to me. The lyrics hold a special place in my heart because they remind me that we can express our true feelings, even if they're not always right or wrong. That's why I really love this song.

My next favorite song is 'Let Me Be the One.' by Jimmy Bondoc It reminds me of a special place in Cordova, Lapu-Lapu City. I was around 10 or 12 years old, and my sister and I went to Cordova to participate in a youth camp. I still remember the activities we did, and this song brings back memories of when my sister and I snuck out of the camp to buy some food. I can't remember why we needed to buy food, or if they were providing meals, but we went out and started exploring Cordova. We stopped at a bakery, and I heard this song 'Let Me Be the One.' I know this song is about love, but it always reminds me of my sister and me exploring an unfamiliar city together. But it's such a memorable and unforgettable experience

I also love the song 'Daylight' by Taylor Swift. I've listened to it countless times and I really love it. I always make sure to never dedicate this particular song to anyone, so if something bad happens between us, I wouldn't end up disliking the song. I really love this song because it's kind of my thing. When I listen to music, and I've had a boyfriend or girlfriend, I always dedicate this song to them so I would remember them through this song. So, I always try not to dedicate 'Daylight' to someone. But like I said earlier, I was listening to music and realized I wanted to share every memory I remember associated with specific songs. 'Daylight' was the song I was listening to, and it suddenly reminded me of my students from CIJ, specifically my 'bby' Hyeok and Julian. I realized that I've never received so much love from anyone, not even from my family, lovers, or friends. It suddenly struck me that these two kids always gave me so much love that when they left, I felt like I had no one to draw love from. I thought I was the one filling them with love because of the absence of their parents, but it was them filling me with love, and I didn't quite realize it until they were gone. I know how much I talked about them in my blogs, always bringing them up because I was loved by them, and I didn't realize it until they were gone. I also want to share that I found their letters inside my bag. I didn't know they gave me letters, which is why it breaks my heart that I wasn't able to say thank you to them and how much I love them and how I miss them. That's why I dedicate 'Daylight' to them because their laughter was shining so much like daylight, and their warm hugs were as warm as daylight.

I also want to share this last specific song called 'Grand Escape.' It's from the anime movie 'Weathering with You' OST. It reminds me of my friend who was taken in by our neighbor. It was kind of strange because he just appeared in our village and claimed he saw a white lady. There were a lot of rumors about him, and nobody knew him. One of our neighbors took him in, but not legally; they just let him live in their house for a few months. We became very close friends because our houses were nearby, and we always hung out every night. I remember going to the basketball court around 10:00 p.m. after my classes, and instead of going inside our house, I would always check if he was there. He was always there, and we would talk about how much he wanted to go to college, even though he didn't finish high school. He always encouraged me to finish college, which was very sweet. Now, he's back in Manila. I don't know why he went back, but I'm sad and also happy for him because his real parents live there. The last time we talked, we watched 'Weathering with You' on my phone in front of our house, on the veranda. He told me he was leaving, but he never mentioned going to Manila or not coming back. It was a very special night, and I love that song."

I'll end this here for now, but this isn't the end of the story! Stay tuned for Part 2, where I'll share more songs that evoke specific situations and beautiful memories.
