1971 VW Super Beetle

My family was here for Mother's Day and we got to see my son-in-laws most recently completed car restoration project. He has restored many cars over the years and has received trophies and prizes for his work. There is always a waiting line of people offering to buy them when he is done. He swears he is keeping this one for himself and I hope so, as it is my favorite out of all the others he has done.

The "Bug" is one of the most recognizable silhouettes in automotive history,

.

It got dropped off to their garage on the back of a flatbed trailer because there wasn't much of a car there to begin with.
It was purchased for $500 bucks, including the delivery charge.

As far as he knows this car has been in Wisconsin since it was new. . It' began as a 1971, but now the bumpers are from a 1965, the rear tail lights are off of a 67, so is one of the fenders, doors are off of a 72, as are the hood and trunk lid. It took a lot of searching to find all the necessary parts and pieces to put it together!

The two-tone light blue and white paint job gives it a classic feel and the whitewall tires paired with the chrome hubcaps really lean into that vintage '70s look.
He painted it in his garage using tractor paint.

The Super Beetle has nearly double the luggage space in the "Frunk" of a Standard Beetle, and the spare tire is tucked away flat under the floor rather than standing upright.
