How does Steemit work?

Steemit is a blogging and social networking website on top of the Steem circlechain database. The Steem blockchain produces Steem and Steem Dollars which are tradeable tokens users obtain for posting, discovering, and commenting on interesting content
Steemit, Inc is a privately held company based in New York City and headquartered in Virginia.

People who create content are rewarded for their content. People who upvote content are rewarded for helping to curate the best content available on the site. Commenters who add to the discussions are paid too. So Like, comment share, post everytime you get paid in real dollars. So instead of wasting time on Facebook, whatsapp, youtube which dont pay any shit for spending our valuable time you can do same thing on steemit and get paid.

Steemit allows for currency mining as well, but it’s not the primary way to earn money. Every day, new Steemit currency units that are created by the network and distributed to the people who engage with the site. The more you engage, the more you get.
