Mechanical trees capture CO2 passively
A device developed by researchers at Arizona State University that can extract carbon dioxide from the air, which has been dubbed MechanicalTree.
A group of 12 of these mechanical trees could absorb a ton of CO2 from the atmosphere each day. These devices use discs made of absorbent material, capable of absorbing three times their weight in carbon dioxide.
Each "tree" has a stack of absorbent filled discs; When the column is fully deployed and the disks are separated, the air flow comes into contact with the surfaces of the disks and trap the CO2.
In addition, captured CO2 can be stored and sold for reuse in a wide variety of applications, such as synthetic fuels, beverages or agriculture.
Fortunately not everyone is dedicated to brake our balls like Greta and some are dedicated to finding real solutions.
