The droughts in Cuba become more frequent and prolonged, we are now in the dry period, when rainfall is scarce.This situation, added to human action, causes fires in natural areas, including forested areas both in the plain and in the mountains.In recent weeks, we have witnessed numerous fires in the Sierra Maestra and other areas of Granma, events that leave incalculable damage to our biodiversity.

🌳 Why is it important to act?
These fires not only destroy trees and vegetation, but also sweep with the habitat of innumerable species of birds and other animals.Many of these areas are fundamental for their survival, since they provide refuge and food.Each fire represents an important loss for our ecosystem and for future generations.

🦜 What can we do?
From the Granma Bird Observer Club, we want to remind you that we can all contribute to preventing these disasters and minimizing their impacts.Here some actions you can take:

1. Avoid risky actions: do not throw cigar or garbage plots in natural areas, and refrain from making non -controlled bonfires.
2. Report fires: If you see a fire, notify the competent authorities immediately.
3. Sensitize others: Share information about the importance of protecting our forests and biodiversity.
4. Participate in reforestation actions: Join initiatives that seek to restore the affected areas.

🔥 In many cases the damage is already done, but we can still act
Although some fires have already occurred, it is not late to take measures that help compensate for damage.Each plant planted, each awareness action and each effort to protect our natural areas is important.

Las sequías en Cuba se hacen más frecuentes y prolonadas, estamos ahora en el período seco, cuando las precipitaciones son escasas. Esta situación, sumada a la acción humana, provoca incendios en áreas naturales, incluyendo zonas boscosas tanto en el llano como en las montañas. En las últimas semanas, hemos sido testigos de numerosos incendios en la Sierra Maestra y otras áreas de Granma, eventos que dejan daños incalculables en nuestra biodiversidad.

🌳 ¿Por qué es importante actuar?
Estos incendios no solo destruyen árboles y vegetación, sino que también arrasan con el hábitat de innumerables especies de aves y otros animales. Muchas de estas zonas son fundamentales para su supervivencia, ya que les proporcionan refugio y alimento. Cada incendio representa una pérdida importante para nuestro ecosistema y para las futuras generaciones.

🦜 ¿Qué podemos hacer?
Desde el Club de Observadores de Aves de Granma, queremos recordarte que todos podemos contribuir a prevenir estos desastres y a minimizar sus impactos. Aquí algunas acciones que puedes tomar:

1. Evita acciones riesgosas: No arrojes colillas de cigarro o basura en áreas naturales, y abstente de hacer fogatas o quemas no controladas.
2. Reporta incendios: Si ves un incendio, avisa inmediatamente a las autoridades competentes.
3. Sensibiliza a otros: Comparte información sobre la importancia de proteger nuestros bosques y la biodiversidad.
4. Participa en acciones de reforestación: Únete a iniciativas que busquen restaurar las áreas afectadas.

🔥 En muchos casos el daño ya está hecho, pero aún podemos actuar
Aunque algunos incendios ya han ocurrido, no es tarde para tomar medidas que ayuden a resarcir el daño. Cada árbol plantado, cada acción de concienciación y cada esfuerzo por proteger nuestras áreas naturales es importante.
