#Exploitation #colonialism is a form of colonisation where foreign citizens conquer a country in order to control and capitalize on its #natural #resources and #indigenous population.
Institutions established by colonials DO NOT INTRODUCE much protection for #private #property, nor do they provide #checks and #balances against government expropriation.
In fact, the main purpose of the extractive state is to transfer as much of the resources of the colony to the colonizer, with the #MINIMUM amount of investment possible.
Since colonies are created with the intent to #extract resources, colonial powers HAVE no #INCENTIVES to #invest in #INSTITUTIONS or #INFRASTRUCTURE that do not support their immediate goals. Thus, Europeans and their Greek friends establish #AUTHORITARIAN regimes in the colonies, which have no limits on state power.
