Ibo's traditional soup and ceremonial culture

‎Am feeling so excited to write about my people's culture in Blockchain. I just discovered this community today and now eager and ready to drop one of our cultures here. What am about writing is a culture that must surely take place as long as ibo land is concern whenever there is occasion or ceremony be it burial, child dedication, wedding, marriage, birthday party, coronation and many more.

‎Here in ibo land, there is a special leaf known as Ukazi. The calabar calls it Afang. it is the chief of vegetables in our land with high recommendation and value. Whenever and wherever there is ceremony, they must cook Ukazi.

‎Ukazi can be cooked with fish, goat meat, red meat, stockfish, snail and many more. But according to tradition, if it is for occasion, they prefer cooking it with red meat, dried fish and stockfish. After cooking, it is best enjoyed with either garri or fufu. But those with health challenge can as well enjoy it with either semovita or wheat.

‎The day of the occasion or the evening prior to it, Ukazi would be brought out for people to start cutting it or slicing it with sharp knife. For example, these is one of the occasions I featured in. That very morning, they brought out Ukazi for me to slice and I did the needful.

‎Now, while doing the work, base on our culture, to show appreciation, they will share drinks to all those working in different dimensions and apartments for the success of the occasion. It could be beer or soft drinks. In this very day, they shared beer and I enjoyed desperados because of its contents.

‎Moreover, before dishing out meal for their guests, they will make sure their supporters have eaten and drink.

This particular occasion i attended, it was prepared with another leaf known as water leaf. Take a look at the soup.

‎That is the routine tradition in ibo land whenever there is ceremony or occasion. The taste of Ukazi soup is always appetizing especially if it is prepared by someone that really knows and have gotten degree with years experience in cooking 😁.

‎My people, these is one of the cultures in my land. Ibo is one of the tribes in Nigeria and am proudly it's citizen.
