Upgrading The Western Shores Play-Test Materials

Greetings, fellow sentient beings!

Also, Hail thee, brave explorers of seas uncharted!

This is Manol Donchev, coming in with another update on the Western Shores board game project.

So, we had an invitation to a local club for yesterday. To test the game we're developing and it was the first actual test with the maximum allowed players. Which is Four.

I decided to put some extra effort and prepare some quick-quick hastily-done real-size frames and add some elements where they should be on the cards. And pictures to about 40 % of them. This is how much we have got ready so far, mainly silver.art@silver.art who is our lead illustrator.

What I want to show you here is the difference between the materials we used this time for testing...

...and what we used before...

...wait for it...

We even have Frost Giant Outlook here as well, a card present on both demo pictures.

I would say the new version is quite far from done since it was a grab-it-and-throw-it-all-in kind of job, but it's light years ahead in terms of visual appeal to a random dude or dudette who is not from the inner circle. Or to anyone. Then again, I might be mistaken.

I am quite aware that many things could have been better done, but not in the time I had. All in all, I prepared 18 sheets to be printed. Some of them were easier than others, holding many copies of the same card. But some contained single copies of unique cards only.

The play test revealed some typos which were quite misleading. So we had to pretend the cards were printed...otherwise. But most of it was fine enough. A couple of game rules obstructed fast and easy play and are now gone. A couple of cards had to be changed in order to be more appealing to players.

I had no time for color coding this time and the resources being all black...and quite tiny where the cost of the card is depicted...Of course, that shall be taken care of.
