A Look at the COT Report and Open Interest.
In this report, I look at the early market action in London on Monday, September 17th, 2018. I look briefly at the precious metals, the stock market, the dollar, bonds, the emerging markets, and the oil price.
Today I look at the futures market and how activity in that market is reported by the regulator or the CFTC. The CFTC publishes a weekly report called the COT report or Commitment of Traders. All the reports show is how each category of futures trader is positioned in the market.
The open interest is the total amount of open Long and Short contracts in a future and for every long position, there is a short position. In this report, I go through this in detail and I show also can be deducted about the health of the market from the COT report and open interest.
