I Am A Drum Tutor
Hello guys, my name is Manasseh Gaya, a drummer from Nigeria. Growing up as a boy, I've always admired drums, it has always been my dream to become a drummer.
Anytime I'm alone in the living room those days I prefer watching live performance of musicians and always keen on the camera switching to the drummer's side. With that the passion for drumming increased.
So I started playing little drums in my primary school (elementary school) but a year before I graduated from high school I decided to take drumming serious. I had no teacher or a phone to use for learning but I just knew it that one way or the other I'm going to learning drumming.
So one day I made a decision that would change my life forever.
I walked away from my family church at a very young age, leaving behind the comfort and familiarity of Sunday mornings with my loved ones. It was a bold move, one that would ultimately lead me to pursue my passion for drumming. I can still recall the uncertainty and fear that gripped me as I embarked on this new journey.
I had no teacher, no resources, and no clear direction. But I was determined to make it happen.
That's when I met a guy. He took me to his church and gave me the opportunity to play the drums, even though I was still learning. He showed me some basic grooves to play during praise and worship, and that was the starting point for me.
For a whole year, I had the privilege of playing real drums, and those simple grooves he taught me became instinctive. Although that church wasn't where I ultimately honed my skills, it played a significant role in giving me experience and exposure.
In my drum journey I encountered alot of challenges along the way, I had to figure out ways to tackle it myself.
And this made me make a promise to myself that I will teach drumming and help young aspiring drummers to grow with or without money.
And I've been training people ever since.
The video above is a video of one of intermediate student..
I hope to make him a professional drummer.
