The last couple of days have been hard. There's challenging family stuff going on. Normally, I'd just escape into work, but work happens to be slow this week. And none of the fiction stories I'm working on has yet reached the point where I can really get lost in it. So I'm spending too much time stuck in my head, worried about the family stuff and how it will be resolved.

One thing that helped was giving away some books. A friend is going into rehab for 90 days and he hasn't read any of my novels. So I gave him five of the books I've written to read while he's in there. When I get paper copies of the latest book Psychic Avalanche, I might mail that one to him as well.

On an unrelated topic, I read the weirdest news story this week. Apparently, the Biden Administration is refusing to release documents pertaining to the JFK assassination. This is in line with previous administrations refusing to release this information. But the reason for Biden's refusal is what caught my attention. "This time around, delays associated with the coronavirus pandemic were to blame for the recommendation to put off the release," said the article.

Yes, you read that right. Details of Oswald's interactions with the Soviet Union's intelligence community during the 1960s will remain hidden from public view because of covid. Not due to the actual virus, of course. But due to society's insane response to the virus. This is an important distinction that mainstream media seems incapable of making.

In practical terms, there probably isn't anything too amazing in the JFK assassination documents that remain secret. But the whole idea that the pandemic is being used as an excuse to maintain this secrecy is troubling. It suggests that pandemic madness has spread to those safeguarding our national security. It would be nice if people operating on that level acted more sensibly.

At this point, I have pandemic fatigue. The virus isn't as bad as the media makes it out to be. The vaccine isn't as good as the media makes it out to be. The economy has become severely distorted after a year and a half of irrational behavior at all levels. Now the deep state is hiding behind covid. It's all very tiresome.
