Samantha Leilani Dances with Fire

Hello Steemians,

I've yet to introduce myself to the Steemit world. It seems to be much easier to write on topics and other people than about myself. As a photographer, I don't have as many pictures of myself as I do of others. Before I share my Steemit intro, I'd like to introduce you to someone I hold in high regard, Ms. Samantha Leilani.

She is a writer, an editor, a teacher, a permaculture and nutrition instructor, a photographer, and a fire performance artist. ...Among many other talents. She is also one of the most empathetic, powerful, intelligent, community-focused people I know.

Below, I'm sharing a number of images of Samantha practicing for a fire performance. I would be sharing photos of her performance, but I ended up being too enchanted to even think about taking photos.

These fans are MUCH hotter than they appear. She has to keep moving to prevent the flames from burning her and she dips her arms in water between performances in an attempt to cool them.

This photo is Samantha practicing for an upcoming Fire Fan show at LLAURAPALOOZA. I may have taken some artistic liberties with it and the next one.

In this last one, she is dancing with poi, basically fireballs on chains. Believe it or not, I did not leave my drink unattended prior to editing this one.
