Started back working on the house.... Update 2 / DIY

Its been really hot early summer temperatures hitting close to 40 Celsius. Last week was a bit easier so I decided to kick it off again.

Before the summer we basically just dug a hole.

The hole was dug pretty badly even though I had the stakes placed by the surveyor. The excavator had to come in again and it took 2 months for me to get him to come back in to finish the job..

So he expanded the hole, built a ramp, dug the enterance into the basement and put down the base for the foundation. (We call it tampon)
The surveyor placed new stakes on the floor again.
I started tying up the rebar for the foundation. The prices of rebar went through the roof due to the war Russia started. I bought almost exactly 3 tons of rebar for the foundation and wall tieins. It cost me 2.5x what I would pay before all this nonsense few years ago.

Here you can see my makeshift desk and the starting phase of a new cage. Trying to keep it as straight as possible.

This is the final product. I need 8 of these at 6 meters lenght for all sides. Took a bit till I got the hang of tying but I think i got the hang of it right now. This type of work takes most of the time and I really didnt want to pay anyone to do it when I can do it myself.
My hope is that we will pour the foundation in about 2 weeks time. I need a few people for that and its really hard to find people when everyone of any worth, thats younger is off to Germany.

I went with Q283 rebar net, double zoned on a 35cm concrete thickness. A cheaper option than the Q335 we intended to use before. The foundation will be a floating slab foundation which I considered a better option than the striped foundation.
Sure, you use a bit less concrete but the hassle is bigger and id say its a traditional option in the area.
