Is this the problem?
Some time back I planted heirloom beetroot seeds and for a while, everything seemed to be going well - then I began to notice that the plants were not looking good and even some of the leaves would simply go limp and could be pulled out easily.
At first I thought maybe I had over watered and so cut down - but to no avail.
As beetroot is a cool crop, I thought maybe it was too hot in the container - but my reasoning was telling me that beets love plenty of sunshine - so now what?
Then yesterday, I decided to poke around in the soil - and yes, I found grubs!! quite a few!!
I quickly disposed of these horrid little critters - and am sure the robins would love them.
So for the mean time, I am leaving what is left of the beetroots and hoping that with the autumn weather kicking in and no more grubs, that I may be able to salvage my beetroots.
Horrid little grubs.
Maybe I can save these.
