Share a Little Kindness
I had a bit of a scare this weekend, but the alarming incident was over in no time.
While I feel like a forty-year-old in my head, my body has been telling me that I'm only fooling myself, but hey, I still believe you're only as old as you feel in your head.
What do these little tartlets have to do with that!
I can still bake a mean MILK TART as I showed you some time back. It's become my task to do the honours when the family gets together. The cheeky cousins sometimes ask for a whole milk tart to take home
My Mom used to bake a dozen or more of these pastry cases, store them in an airtight container, then put them in the freezer and take one out to fill when someone pops in for a visit. Mom's friend, at times, used to order a dozen and do the same.
When I had my alarming incident, I really appreciated the support given by a neighbour.
When one is left to fend for oneself, it's great to have someone who cares. Makes one feel you're not all alone!
Just six little tartlets to say a thank you touched her heart, as she touched mine when I needed a willing ear and some encouragement.
I had doubled up on the pastry dough when I had to bake milk tarts as dessert for my brother's lamb-on-the-spit braai (BBQ), and I kept half the dough in the refrigerator to use during the week.
The little leftover pieces of pastry dough were turned into jam crumble tartlets, my absolute favourite.
I made three more full-size milk tarts, cut each in half, and gave them to the other lonely ladies around me - I am one of them now;)
Just something small that was much appreciated by my new neighbours. I will have to copy and share with a few others around me;)
Share a little kindness and light up the world around you, even if it's only for a brief spell.
