Stone Daydreams
I bent down on the shore and reached into the water to pick up the unusual stone. It was reddish with pieces of rock crust and crystalized structure. The surface was rough and made up of different materials. What could this be? There was nothing else like it around, as far as I could see. I looked at the large boulders along the shore. They were massive boulders that had a primordial look about them, but none seem to be the source of this strange specimen. I decided to take it as a souvenir for research purposes, naturally.
After looking it up on Google Lens, the software IDed the rock as an agatized fossil.
My eyes widened (insert bulging eyes emoji).
Could this be a dinosaur bone? Coral? Some strange prehistoric critter? Was this the remnant of a lifeform that came to this earth millions of years ago? I was intoxicated with the possibilities and dizzy with the majestic evolutionary vistas they opened up.
I'll take a closer look with my camera, so I can get up close on those cracks and see what mysteries they hold. Nature has a way of throwing a few surprises when we least expect it.
