Whether you do it monthly, quarterly, or annually, a performance review--in person and with written materials--is a positive way both to support your employees through clear communications and to protect your business from unwarranted employee aggravation claims.
🎯 Goal: Determine a schedule for performance reviews that don't overwhelm both parties.
Sudden, hyper-regular sessions could create dissension causing suspicion that something is going on and that they're at risk of losing their job. (More on that in tomorrow's mistake!)
🚧 Actionable Item: If you don't already have performance review protocols in place, there are many examples of templates online to set up goals and track performance.
This is critical that performance is documented if ever you have to let someone go and they seek legal remedies.
