left wing populism vs right wing populism
Populism is a political idea that appeals to the common people or interest of the common people in opposition to elites.
Right wing populism combines the idea of populism with the right wing political idea most of those ideas include strong nationalism especially strong law against immigration and targeting elites that are out of touch with the people.
A right wing populist also encourages a strong stance against crime, border control and preservation of traditional values and they also promote cultural conservation by trying to emphasize traditional family structures, religion and cultural heritage.
In areas of economy they prefer capitalism but are very careful when it comes to free trade and globalization
On the other hand a left wing populist will focus on reducing inequality in the society by taxing the elites and the rich and also the corporate elites.
Both Left wing and right wing populism claim to fight for the people and fight corrupt establishments.
But they differ the right wing main concern is the people losing their national identity and sovereignty that's the major reason they see mass immigration and liberalism as a threat to national identity but the left wing major concern is economic inequality and Justice therefore they see capitalist as an obstacle so inorde to achieve equality they tax big capitalist and corporations to redistribute wealth and create more public goods that would benefit the general.
