A Tutor’s Journey, A Food Court Feast: From Mandaluyong Tutorial Session to Rediscovering the Joy of Pork Hamonado and Ginataang Langka at Food Court’s Deliciously Done Lutong Bahay
Hello Hive friends all over the world! 🌍👋 I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying your own food adventures wherever you may be. Today, I want to share a simple yet meaningful story about my lunch out; a mix of work, travel, and the comfort of eating in a food court again.
Early today, I traveled to Manila once more to tutor a student preparing for a writing contest next week. Since online sessions weren’t possible, her mother kindly asked me to come to their home in Mandaluyong. She even reimbursed my fare, which was a thoughtful gesture.
Our tutorial lasted for more than two hours, filled with exercises, discussions, and strategies to help her shine in the contest. Afterward, I received my pay and felt grateful for the opportunity to guide her.
When lunchtime came, I was invited to join them, but I politely declined. Honestly, I was shy to eat with them, and deep down, I missed the lively atmosphere of a food court. So, I decided to head to my favorite nearby spot: Starmall.
There’s something nostalgic about food courts: the buzz of people, the variety of dishes, and the casual comfort of eating alone yet surrounded by others.
I ordered a satisfying plate that truly hit the spot:
• Rice ---the staple that completes every Filipino meal
• Pork Hamonado---sweet, savory, and tender, a dish that feels like home
• Ginataang Langka---creamy jackfruit cooked in coconut milk, rich and flavorful
• Bottled Water---simple but refreshing
The food hub, Deliciously Done Lutong Bahay, lived up to its name. Each bite reminded me why I love eating out, not just for the flavors, but for the experience of reconnecting with familiar places and meals.
Thank you, my Hive friends, for reading about my little food adventure today. Sometimes, the simplest meals bring the most joy, especially when paired with the stories of our daily lives. Until next time, may your own eating-out journeys be delicious and memorable!
