Twitter being run by activist leftists.
This is a fundamental issue that Twitter has had for years, ever since it started caving to / being run by activist leftists.
Their definition of harassment, racism, bigotry, etc., is often so broad as to be entirely useless... Except that those are the definitions often used to boot people from the platform. And when people don't have their tweets taken down, this crowd throws a fit.
But saying "her" in a post about Ellen Page being good in X-men, without even so much as tagging the account of (now "him") Elliot Page couldn't even begin to fit under any sane definition of the term harassment. And even if Elliot was tagged, discussing a public figure should mean even more leeway on a platform like Twitter. Hell, it's almost insane to think that one user even could "harass" another on Twitter since it's possible to mute or block people. If you do not want to see Dave Rubin, unfollow him. Block him. Whatever.
But that's not enough for most of these doofuses. They have to prevent everyone else from ever seeing what they say as well.
