Kcontest #41 // Learning Korean Is Fun And Interesting

I never really saw myself as a TikTok person. For the longest time, I viewed it as just another platform filled with endless scrolling, distractions, and trends that come and go. It wasn’t something I planned to spend my time on, especially since I’ve always tried to be intentional about how I use my time online. But recently, something unexpected happened, I found myself opening TikTok more often than I’d like to admit.

At first, it started casually. Just a few minutes here and there. But before I knew it, I was spending more time on the app daily. What surprised me the most wasn’t just the time I was spending, but why I kept going back. It wasn’t just entertainment anymore, it became a learning tool.

Somewhere along the line, my TikTok feed began to change. Instead of random videos, I started seeing content related to the Korean language. Short clips teaching simple phrases, pronunciation tips, common expressions, and even cultural insights began to appear regularly. At first, I didn’t take it seriously. But the more I watched, the more interested I became.

Learning Korean suddenly didn’t feel like a difficult or overwhelming task. It felt approachable, even fun. The short video format made it easy to absorb information without feeling pressured. I could learn a new word, replay it, practice the pronunciation, and move on, all within a minute or two. It felt like learning in small, manageable steps rather than trying to tackle everything at once.

Before I realized it, I had developed a routine. I would open TikTok, not just to scroll aimlessly, but to intentionally look for Korean learning content. I started saving helpful videos, repeating words out loud, and even testing myself with what I had learned. It became something I genuinely looked forward to.

What makes this experience interesting for me is the contrast. A platform I once avoided is now helping me grow in a way I didn’t expect. It’s a reminder that learning doesn’t always have to come from traditional sources like textbooks or classrooms. Sometimes, it comes from places we least expect.

So, where am I learning Korean from? Surprisingly, TikTok has become one of my main sources. What started as an accidental habit has turned into a valuable learning opportunity. And honestly, I didn’t see that coming at all, it makes Korean learning interesting and fun.

Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
