Tarsa Splinterlands Weekly Art Contest Entry

Hello, how are you? This morning, while I was doing what I usually do and then I felt a shake, and I thought maybe I was feeling dizzy from everything I do, or from staying up late, and I thought I should stop doing it for the sake of my health, and then I realized some parts of the Philippines are having earthquakes out of the blue.

So I went out of my room, and my brother asked me if I felt the earthquake, and yes, I said, and I thought I was having some internal issue inside my body, and that made me feel relieved, but quickly turned into nervousness. I am seeing in the news that the "Big One" thing that will hit mainly the big cities. Which is freaking scary, so I tend not to watch the news about that. So yeah.

So I was supposed to draw my entry this morning, but decided to stop at the line art. I continued it tonight, which is a good decision of mine because the weather is kind of chill tonight, as it is currently having light rain.

So for my entry this week, I chose Tarsa because I like her hair, thick and red, and it is perfect for her power and which complements everything.

For the line art, I just like it simple and clean at the same time. I use a marker detail brush to do the line art, and then to make the line art cleaner, what I do is I adjust the stabilization to prevent my shaky hand when drawing. Big help, you should try it.

For the base color, what I do is I use the shape fill tool brush to add the base color, and to make the rendering easier, I add each part I and I make sure that each part has its own layer. To make adding the base color easier, I fill the background with a gray color.

After that, the next process was adding the base shadow and highlights. What is do is I use the shape fill tool to add the shadows and highlights, which makes it easier to add them. And after that, I added texture to the canvas too to make it look good, and it is my ritual to add texture to the canvas since I discovered it. I think I did the hair so thick here, so I am going to fix it later for the next process.

For this part of the process, I decided a dark background is good for what the idea inside my head I'm going to do, and then I start adding more darker contrast to the character and more details too. And then I make sure to add more to the next render, darker values to the part like the lashes, the nose part, and the chin part.

For the final part I decided to add flame behind her which is a good idea I like is so much and then what I do is use the shape fill tool brush just draw some flames shape and then I duplicate it and that duplicate is the the the made that glowing effect and then I to make the character more realistic I added details like the strand of the hair which I love and then I added the reflection of the flame at her back to make it more the flame is reflecting behind her.
