Flame Imp Splinterlands Weekly Art Contest Entry

Hello, how are you? It is the first day of August. Several things are bothering me this week, and it's because I've been sleeping in late lately, which is an old habit of mine that is not good. I hope my parent go out tomorrow so that I can go out and expose myself to other people LOL.

We had been planning on going out last July, but the weather didn't agree with that, so the trip was canceled, like all of it. I hope this August we can go on a trip again. My brother has been craving for trip too, so we all agreed on that LOL. I just like long trips, it's kinda healing for me.

I chose Flame Imp for my entry this week because I like rendering characters with fire power on it, so yeah, I love red so I am going to be bias in choosing what character for my entry each week and I observe that for the past entry I draw they're all have fire power which I just realize by now. Which I enjoy lately, and drawing makes me stop overthinking, so it is a big help for me.

I almost did not start this entry because my ears are kind of sensitive to loud noise. Lately, my brother's dog has been kind of noisy, which makes me not focus on drawing line art. I keep contemplating which line art I should use, but I decided to use this, it is simpler, and I like it.

For the base color, I used the shape fill tool brush, which I use to add the background design in the final process, but today I decided to add it at first, so that I can think more about whether I will keep this or not.

For the next process, I still use the shape fill tool brush to add the base shadows and highlights, and since I discovered the shape fill tool brush, it makes adding color easier. I used to manually add the base shadows and highlights, which took a lot of time. Now I can save more time so that I can render my entry more.

For this part of the process, I darken the background color just for me to see more of the character. It always works for me when I do this, and then I start blending some parts of the shadows and highlights.

For this part of the process, I added more layers of shadows and highlight to the character which change a lot for a better now I can see that it is look like it is coming to life and then I lower the opacity of the line art because I am not dependent to it and for the final result I will remove it completely.

For this part of the process, I completely hide the line art, and I start adding more detail to the character.

For the final process, I completely darken the background color, and then because his power is fire I added it as background design and I think it make the art completely better and I should add 1 shade of fire I decided why not add a lot of shades of it and then because his background design is fire ofcourse the reflection of the lights of the fire should be reflected to the character so that it will look like more realistic so finish it with highlights from the fire.
