Multiverse Chronicles : Prologue - The Fall

People were thinking seriously about immortality now. The year was 2035. Death from chronic diseases and infections was a thing of the past. You could still die of accidents and physical trauma but those deaths were becoming rare too with all the advancements in science and technology.

The infections were mostly taken care of by the nanobots which could target individual bacteria and virus infected cells. The chronic diseases were taken care of by manipulation at the genetic level. Now that we had more time, people got back to questions like who we are and what our place in the universe is. One of the places we have looked for answers since millennia is UP. That's what we did again.

The search for 'intelligent' extraterrestrial life began with renewed vigour and space exploration was back at the forefront of human curiosity.

It was during one of those expeditions to Mars that we found the first runes. Initially, we believed it might be just a natural erosion of rocks on the surface but as more stones were found and on more celestial bodies, even the naysayers could not think of any other explanation. We had discovered proof of company in the grand scheme of things. We were not alone!

And then it all started! Almost like clockwork, one disaster after another started happening. The pandemics were back. Natural disasters struck one after another. Wars broke out among nations for no apparent reason. Cities started burning and there was unprecedented chaos on the streets.

People linked these calamities to the discovery of the rune stones and some even believed them to be cursed. It felt like we were returning to the medieval ages after so many centuries of progress. The outlook looked bleak, even horrifying for some.

'The Fall' as many had predicted would happen had happened without any warning and much earlier than predicted.

How do I know all this? Who am I? I am the Historian and you can read more about me in the article published on 'The Orion Herald' here.

---- The Historian

Hello everyone, hope you are doing fine. The Historian is back with his chronicles of the multiverse and those of you who have followed me from before have already read many of the thrilling stories that the Multiverse has to offer. I daresay, some of you even have read a part of the ending of this story. I had published it here many months ago.

This is where it all started, on our dear Earth. So you may wonder what on Earth is the Historian doing. Note that the emphasis is 'on Earth' and not on what he is doing!:).
That is a story for another chapter.

Thank you all for reading. All the images above are generated using AI tools like disco or JAX diffusion or a combination of latent and disco diffusion notebooks called centipede diffusion. I have posted some of these images earlier in a different context but they are all made by me with AI assistance.

||All the writing is mine, inspired by the images generated, my previous posts and my socio-cultural influences.||

I will probably have to modify that statement above in future posts as the AI tools have evolved sufficiently enough for me to generate what I want instead of me writing about what it generates.

See you in the next one!

Do you want to generate similar art with the help of AI (or maybe something entirely different)? It is quite simple to get started. You can get started here.
