Fantasy Legend Terry Goodkind Has Passed Away.

Before I start this off, I want to take the chance to point something out. When a person dies, people sometimes (most times?) feel compelled to only say the best things they can about the person who has passed on. And I've seen in threads about Terry Goodkind's passing that people are divided on the subject.

Terry Goodkind's books were very preachy of Randian philosophy. A very divisive philosophy that almost all readers dislike greatly. But a lot of them still enjoy Terry's work. 90% of the complaints I've seen are that people shit-talk his views on Philosophy. But they are not unfounded complaints. Terry was very unchanging in his views and didn't explore other philosophies throughout his works. It was purely Rand is Right. Rand is the way.

Terry's first book had some really odd and kinky BDSM that kinda came out of nowhere and seemed to be more about fulfilling his own fantasies than an actual idea of something that would exist in a fantasy world. And extremely vivid and uncomfortable child grooming. Not for sex, but for sacrifice. It was still extremely unnerving to read. But in my opinion, the fact that he could pull off this type of material in his books (Because they do work within the context of the novel) shows that he was a good author. He was the gateway to Fantasy for many teens. My cousin, @oblivioncubed used Terry Goodkind as my own introduction. It saddens me that we have lost him. Even though I grew out of his writing, it sucks that his voice will no longer continue on. But he lives on. His work will be here forever. He is an immortal.

This morning, Thursday, September 17th, we lost Terry Goodkind. It is a great loss. An unimaginable loss. It is impossible to put into few words just how amazing of a man, a husband, a writer, a friend, and a human, Terry Goodkind truly was. He is already desperately missed. We are forever grateful for him having shared his life’s work with all of us, as he was always grateful to be held in our hearts.
