A U.S. citizen, Dayanne Figueroa, was forcibly removed from her car by ICE agents in Chicago during an enforcement operation. The agents , in an unmarked vehicle and with guns drawn, pinned her to the ground and detained her. ICE claims she “rammed” their vehicle and resisted arrest, while Figueroa says the agents struck her car and she was simply trying to leave. She was released hours later without any charges. Figueroa has stated that she intends to seek justice for how she was treated, signalling her determination to hold authorities accountable.
This incident highlights not only the abuse of state power but also the gendered risks women face during law enforcement interactions. A woman being dragged out of her car at gunpoint in public underscores ongoing concerns about women’s bodily autonomy, safety, and accountability for abuses of power . The lack of charges or explanation amplifies the sense of injustice and vulnerability.
