Wednesday Walk on an OLD road

I did a Wednesday walk on a very old road, and combined a couple pics from our Sunday walk. This town had early settlers in the late 1800's. The town and this road dates back to 1876. It's an old wagon/horse trail "road" really. It may have been used for some timber cutting back in the 1900's.

We found some old house foundations from the 1876 or so time frame, some old Jugs/Barrel type things like this that were stamped Brigham Company 1914. Likely used for maple syrup, or maybe moonshine, who knows?

We found some bottles from "Champlain Carbonated Beverages" stamped 1914.

There was this old Silo. With a ladder in it. It's deeper than it looks in the picture. Each of those ladder rungs is about a foot apart.

And then there is is house foundation with a huge tree growing up in the middle of it. That has to be several decades old at least.

This led to the swamp, the lake in my previous post, and an old maple syrup "sugar house" where sap was collected and processed into syrup.

Quite an interesting walk. I can't wait for the continued thaw and a chance to take metal detector up for more treasure hunting.

And oh, spring is here and we have a few wildflowers peeking out. Love the purple colors.
