Why I'm Called - Uranus

I am Uranus.

I am the seventh planet from the Sun.

My name was given in 1782 (discovered 1781; named 1782).

I was named by Johann Bode (proposed the name); William Herschel (discoverer) initially called it Georgium Sidus after King George III.

My name came about after Herschel discovered it with a telescope; Bode suggested Uranus to fit the mythological pattern (father of Saturn/Cronus), which was adopted internationally.

My name means Greek god of the sky (Ouranos).

An interesting fact is I was the first planet discovered in modern times, breaking from ancient observations; Herschel's royal name was rejected in favor of mythology to maintain consistency.
