I am Tempel 1 Comet.
I am a comet targeted by NASA's Deep Impact mission.
My name was given in 1867.
I was named by Wilhelm Tempel.
I was named after Wilhelm Tempel, the astronomer who discovered me.
An interesting fact is Tempel 1 was the target of NASA's Deep Impact mission in 2005, which sent a probe to impact the comet and study its composition.
