Trees of NZ

As you travel around NZ one things that stands out is the trees. There are native tress not seen anywhere else, as well as a variety from around the world.

Here is a selection of some of them - except the last one - that is something special.

This first tree is a six hundred year old rimu tree. You can see how it's battered by years of strong winds. It's a little hard to tell in the photo, but other trees and vines have wedged in the branches and growing as well.

This amazing looking tree is actually the Party Tree from the Hobbiton Movie Set near Matamata, NZ, seen in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. The original tree was replaced by Weta Workshop and it looks so real.
