A Special Birthday Portrait

IMG_0054.jpeg

About four years ago, I created this graphite portrait as a birthday gift for my pastor. At the time, it was simply an expression of gratitude and respect—but looking back now, I realize how important that moment was for me as an artist.

The process taught me patience and attention to detail, especially in capturing facial features, textures, and clothing patterns with pencil. I wanted the portrait to feel personal, to carry not just a likeness but also the honor and warmth of a birthday tribute.

Today, it feels even more special because the person I drew is now the current EFCC Chairman, which adds a new layer of meaning to this piece. For me, it’s a reminder that art has the power to honor people, capture memories, and preserve milestones that go beyond the drawing itself.

Art, for me, is not just about practice—it’s about creating works that connect with people and their stories.
