Almost Forgot!
I almost forgot that it's needleworkmonday!
After the art tour, I knew I was suppose to start working on an entry for a joint show, but I didn't. A few days ago, I used leftover skeins from that event and started swatching and sketching.
My original intention was to produce an adult sweater, so I shied away from doing the kid's garment in the sketch. I've been dancing around what colors to use. The problem is that a larger sized garment uses much more yarn, so I'm intimidated by the possibility that I may get the colors wrong. Solid colored skeins are easy to over-dye, but I'm not so certain about hand-painted ones.
Since the deadline is January 15th, I jumped in and have my fingers crossed that I'll come up with a good color combination.
Here's half of the colorway:
I'm thinking blues for the other half. Maybe neutrals....
My back up plan is to revert back to the children's sweater. I even have a plan C which is to needle felt a bag similar to the elf slippers, so I'm all set for mess ups. The question really is if I have the time to implement these schemes.
I did deliver those slippers in plenty of time for Christmas, and the customer was thrilled. He said that they were my best yet, so of course I was pleased and relieved. The final touches were toning down some of the colors though I'm not sure if it's noticeable in the picture.
