The reality of "Timezones"
I found this really cool map which shows how the timezones actually lay out (it's also very similar to the United Nations logo).
Imagine the earth for a minute as a stationary plane (as defined by NASA), and the sun and stars revolve over our heads.
If you lay out the earth on a flat map like this (azimuthal equidistant), the timezones make perfect sense, but on the (mercator) timezone map that we were given in school, the timezone lines don't match what the sun is doing at all. At all.
I just found this interesting, hope you enjoy it too. Let me know in the comments what you think about it! :)
Timezones don't care what country we live in. It looks to me like we live on a big'ol clock.
