Natural architecture
Why do we feel that nature is beautiful and harmonious? Nature, while seemingly extremely complex, is built on a hierarchy of simple elements. Harmony is given by proportions, and it can be of two kinds, symmetrical and asymmetrical.
Symmetry is nothing else but reflection, halving, splitting in two (Bifurcation) where the binary number and its powers can be observed, like 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 1024...
Asymmetric harmony is more interesting! You can see it in a snail shell, in a fern leaf's curls, etc. While the number 2 and its powers are rational numbers, and they also relate to each other in a rational way,in this case, the ratios are irrational numbers. Divide a section as follows: The smaller part is proportional to the larger than the larger to the sum of the two sections.
The result is a number of infinite decimal places: 1.618 033 988 749 894 848 20...
We call it Golden Ratio.
You can find both harmony in these pictures. Since the law of harmony is universal, everything in the whole universe, including, of course, here on Earth, is built according to this.
The pictures were created with Mandelbulb 3D.
I'm not normal! I'm a Humanoid!
