New routine to practice Japanese

I have been a long time user of Duolingo and even thought I have tried other apps, they haven't really stick to my Duolingo routine. To be honest, I have been trying to change it but the gamification of Duolingo has got me. While others just hasn't. Even when I said I was going to stop using the app, I would move to others that seemed better and watch more Japanese anime and movies from an education perspective. I have failed.

This article, I write it with the hope of documenting my efforts, successful or not. And also force me to plan and strategize on ways to do it better. Duolingo has given me a lot, but also have somewhat limit my education. I haven't been able to fully type or talk in Japanese, although my reading and visuals have improved.

Most of the success of the duolingo gamification is that it can be done in less than 5 minutes to keep the streak alive. The other great point is that I am already used to do it without much need of speaking it.

What can we do about it?

First I would need to find something that I can do quickly and without much time to take from my day. One thing can be that after some anime, I try to hold a conversation about the episode with the AI. I've found AI are knowledgeable of any shows that have been broadcast.

Having a quick and basic conversation about the show I have just watched could help me get into it while take less than 5 minutes. I would need the right prompt and dynamic to help me jump from English to Japanese and correct me into the right Japanese line. So something like, "Hey google, I need to learn Japanese, we will talk about the latest episode of (insert show), and you will say back to me the question and answer in both English and Japanese." Hopefully that will help me go back and forth with Gemini.
