Day Trip to Heda

On the first of April, we went to Heda in Izu to see the cherry blossoms. There were several points along the towns river where you could see them.

Unfortunately, they were past their peak by then, but fortunately, there's so much else to see and do around the town that it wasn't a problem.

We got off the bus near the mountainside and walked down along the river to see the cherry blossoms.

After seeing the remains of the blossoms and the goat, we got to the sea. We ate some lovely seafood in a nice restaurant and then we decided to go out to the peninsula, but were too lazy. We eventually found a bar with rental bikes by the harbour, after several visits to the supermarket for alcohol, we rode to the peninsula and walked to the end of it. There are many interesting paths around that area.

At the end of the path is a shrine, a nice view of Mt. Fuji and a small local history museum / fish museum.

Once we had looked around the museum and wandered back to our bikes, we returned them to the bar, got another drink from the supermarket and walked to the roadside station / hot-spring in the town. This hot spring is fantastic. Cheap, with various baths and with a good feeling pervading it.
After the hot spring, we caught the last bus back to Shuzenji (at 5pm) and then went back to Mishima.

It was a really pleasant day. For a one day trip, Heda really delivers!
