I can't believe you stepped into my head and pulled out my family, sad to say. Yes, we all grew up together with the same values instilled and same opportunities. I can't pinpoint the exact moment the threads that bind were severed. Some traveled down different paths I wouldn't have chosen for myself in a million years. Why this happens is a mystery to me. But the outcome is the same I'm sure for many families. Givers and takers. Doers and don't know what the hell they're doing. And for some unexplained reasons, the outliers always have the ability to place upon you their burdens in life, making you feel guilty and obligated to provide assistance for "achievements" they lack or didn't pursue.

You either have to deal with it or step back and distance yourself. I call it "loving from afar" but I won't be your crutch. I have my own paper trail of life. Yes, the burdens become a cloud as you so aptly named them. I wrote about this recently where you allow other people's problems to jump ahead of your own. It's daunting.
